Alert for the appearance of poisoned animals

The environmental agents of the Cistierna and Riaño regions have found several specimens of wild fauna dead, specifically four vultures and two foxes, pointing out all evidences to a clear case of poisoning. 

The first warning came on last Tuesday through the phone call of an individual, which caused the movement of several agents and one guard to the place specified to comb the site, being found the bodies in specific places of the municipalities of Prioro and Riaño. Once the bodies were found, it was proceed to its removal from the site, for its delivery and analysis in the Centre for the Recovery of Wild Animals of the Regional Environment Ministry, as well as to the opening of the corresponding report delivered to the First Instance Court of Justice of Cisterna, for an allegued crime.

After the first actions took place, it was carried out a reconnaissance of the land, taking into account the possibility to find other animals or remains, being those research works as of today´s date still taking place with several fronts opened. Most poisonings are originated in the protected Area of the Picos de Europa and are carried out with the intention to eliminate species that cause damages to the cattle as to other wild animals that compete with others subject to cynegetical use, as the wolf, or the wrongly named “vermins”, among them, the fox, the marten or the wild cat.
